Estonia has expelled a Russian diplomat accused of breaching European Union sanctions, in a move that further strains already tense relations between Tallinn and Moscow.
The Estonian foreign ministry said the decision followed evidence that the diplomat had engaged in activities inconsistent with their diplomatic status and in violation of EU measures imposed over Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Moscow has condemned the expulsion and vowed to respond, continuing a pattern of tit-for-tat diplomatic actions between the two countries since the start of the conflict.
