German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed strong optimism that a comprehensive trade agreement between the European Union and the United States will be finalized in the near future. Speaking at a recent economic forum, Scholz highlighted the mutual benefits such a deal would bring, emphasizing its potential to boost transatlantic cooperation, strengthen supply chains, and promote sustainable growth.
“We are close to reaching an agreement that supports fair trade, innovation, and economic resilience,” Scholz said. “Both sides recognize the importance of deepening our partnership for the prosperity of our citizens.”
The EU and US have been negotiating for years on reducing tariffs, addressing regulatory differences, and enhancing cooperation on technology and climate policies. While some hurdles remain, recent progress in talks has fueled expectations of a breakthrough soon.
Industry leaders welcomed Scholz’s remarks, noting that a deal could alleviate uncertainties affecting business investments and open new opportunities for exporters on both sides of the Atlantic.
