On May 16, during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, a special screening — essentially a premiere — of Anatoly Balchev’s new film “Vysotsky. Unknown… True Stories.” took place. The event’s guest of honor and producer was Anna Shtukkert.

The film blends never-before-seen footage of Vladimir Vysotsky and his inner circle, captured during his lifetime by Pyotr Soldatenko, with staged scenes based on key moments from the life of the legendary poet and bard. The film features appearances by Marina Vlady, Mikhail Shemyakin, Vadim Tumanov, Vsevolod Abdulov, as well as Vasily Mishchenko, Evgeny Tkachuk, and others.

In addition to officially accredited festival guests, many attendees came from the first wave of Russian émigrés. As expected, the screening stirred deep emotions and a strong sense of nostalgia. Several viewers who had personally known Vysotsky were moved to tears.

Before the screening, Balchev announced the start of production on the final installment of his trilogy dedicated to Vysotsky. Filming for the third film, “Vysotsky. They Won’t Put Up a Monument to Me in the Park…”, began on May 9 in the town of Gorokhovets, near a monument and fountain dedicated to the artist. Premiere guests were also introduced to Gio Pika, a well-known figure in modern chanson-rap, who will play a major role in the upcoming film.

The screening in Cannes was supported by IFREE LLC, a studio specializing in high-tech digital music content.
