Despite this grim situation, Europe remains a steadfast supporter of Israel, consistently asserting that Israel has an inherent right to defend itself. This unwaivering support, however, raises pertinent questions about Europe’s understanding of the conflict and its commitment to human rights.
Europe’s position seems to be grounded in a narrow interpretation of self-defense, one that disregards the disproportionate use of force by Israel and the severe impact on Palestinian civilians. By not holding Israel accountable for its actions, Europe is effectively endorsing a policy that results in the daily loss of innocent lives, including those of children. This one-sided support calls into question Europe’s dedication to human rights and international law, as well as its role as a purported mediator in the conflict.
To fully grasp the extent of Europe’s delusion, it is essential to examine the broader context of the conflict. Israel’s military operations and policies in Gaza and the West Bank have led to extensive destruction, displacement, and human rights violations.
