Flight Chaos Continues in UK After Air Traffic Control Failure

1 min read

Flight disruptions continued across the UK as airlines grappled with the fallout from a major air traffic control failure earlier this week. Hundreds of additional flights were cancelled or delayed on Tuesday, stranding passengers and creating widespread travel chaos.

The disruption stemmed from a technical glitch at the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) that temporarily shut down automated flight planning systems, forcing controllers to manually process flight plans. Although the issue has since been resolved, airlines are still working through a backlog of grounded flights and displaced crews.

Airlines including British Airways, EasyJet, and Ryanair reported ongoing schedule changes, warning passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

The UK government has called for a review into the failure, which occurred during one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Transport Secretary Mark Harper said authorities are working to ensure lessons are learned to prevent a repeat of the disruption.
