4Sight Holdings and Armada are redefining mining technology with cutting-edge AI-powered edge computing. This partnership integrates Armada’s advanced hardware with 4Sight’s expertise in data transformation, enabling mining companies to operate with real-time intelligence, improved efficiency, and enhanced safety.
Armada’s connectors and commanders collect and process data directly at remote mining sites. Through Starlink’s high-speed satellite connectivity, this data is securely transmitted to Microsoft Azure, where 4Sight applies AI-driven analytics to deliver actionable insights. The result: faster decision-making, optimized operations, and greater automation in the mining sector.
Showcasing Innovation at Mining Indaba 2025
The companies will debut their latest AI-driven mining solutions at the 2025 Investing in African Mining Indaba, held in Cape Town from February 3-6.
“We are entering a new era of intelligent mining through our collaboration with Armada,” said Tertius Zitzke, CEO of 4Sight Holdings. “By bringing AI-powered edge computing to the industry, we are enabling real-time, data-driven decision-making at the source.”
Edge Computing: The Future of Smart Mining
With mining sites often located in remote areas, traditional cloud-based data processing is slow and costly. Edge computing solves this by processing data on-site, reducing latency and improving efficiency.
Armada’s Galleon modular data centers—rugged, off-grid units equipped with Starlink connectivity—deploy Microsoft Azure on-premise, allowing mines to process data locally and in real time.
“Our goal is to bridge the digital divide with satellite-powered edge computing,” explained Nordine Aamchoune, SVP International Sales at Armada. “By combining Galleon’s on-site processing with Starlink’s global connectivity, mining companies gain unmatched access to real-time AI insights—no matter how remote their operations are.”
This approach eliminates reliance on expensive fixed-line connections and central data centers, cutting costs while improving performance. By filtering and processing data at the edge, only critical insights are sent to the cloud, reducing bandwidth usage and enhancing security.
“As processing happens at the edge, mining operators get instant insights into their environment,” added Wilhelm Swart, Chief Operations Technology Officer at 4Sight Holdings. “This shift toward intelligent automation and AI-driven mining processes is the key to unlocking the industry’s full potential.”
Industry Leaders Driving Transformation
The industry is already taking notice. Fred Noce, VP of Sales & Business Development for Mining Indaba, expressed excitement about 4Sight and Armada’s participation.
“Their cutting-edge solutions are shaping the future of mining automation,” Noce said. “This partnership is tackling some of the industry’s toughest challenges, empowering mining companies across Africa.”
Representatives from Microsoft, 4Sight, and Armada will be present at Mining Indaba 2025. Attendees can visit stand K44 outside the Innovation Hub to experience live demonstrations and explore the future of AI-powered mining.
