Epic Click Travel & Tourism in Dubai proudly shares the latest tourism data that highlights the continued popularity of Dubai as a travel destination for Portuguese visitors. According to Mohammad Jassim Fathi, the Manager of International Operations for Portugal, Spain, and the Americas at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, the number of Portuguese tourists visiting the city has increased by an impressive 18% in 2024.
This growth comes as a result of consistent efforts to build long-term relationships and invest in marketing campaigns targeting Portuguese travelers. Fathi emphasized that Dubai has become one of the top destinations for Portuguese travelers, citing the city’s appeal in both modernity and tradition as key factors in the increase in tourism.
“Portugal is one of our most important markets in Europe and globally,” said Fathi, reflecting on the positive results. He attributes the 18% growth to the city’s wide range of attractions, from luxury shopping malls and iconic skyscrapers like the Burj Khalifa to cultural experiences that cater to different tastes and interests.
Portuguese tourists are particularly drawn to Dubai for its unique blend of urban sophistication and rich cultural heritage. According to Fathi, many Portuguese travelers are attracted to Dubai’s beautiful beaches and luxury resorts, as well as its diverse cultural offerings. “Dubai has a lot to offer. Portuguese tourists come for many reasons, including the desire to relax by the beach, explore the city’s fascinating culture, and witness its impressive architecture,” said Fathi.
The rise in Portuguese tourism also marks a shift in how tourists view Dubai. Traditionally seen as a stopover destination on the way to Southeast Asia, Dubai is increasingly becoming a final destination in itself for many Portuguese visitors. Fathi noted that the average length of stay for Portuguese tourists has grown to about four nights, reflecting a broader interest in exploring all that the city has to offer.
Dubai’s hospitality offerings are catering to various types of travelers, from family vacations to romantic getaways and even senior tourists. The city is becoming more inclusive and adaptable to the needs of diverse travelers, offering tailored experiences for everyone, whether visiting for leisure, business, or cultural exploration.
Looking ahead to 2025, Fathi expressed optimism for continued growth in the Portuguese market. The city’s new attractions, such as the House of Hype experience and the Marsa Al Arab property opening in March 2025, are expected to draw even more international visitors. “We’re excited about the new attractions and the potential to continue growing the Portuguese market. The demand for travel to Dubai is increasing, and we look forward to welcoming even more Portuguese tourists in the coming years.”
As Dubai continues to enhance its appeal as a global travel hub, its strong relationship with Portugal will only strengthen, bringing more visitors to explore the city’s modern luxuries, rich cultural experiences, and world-renowned hospitality.
