Apollo Film Production and Anatoly Balchev will unveil “Vysotsky. Unknown… A True Story” at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival on May 16, 2025, at 17:45 in Cinema Hall Arcades.
Anatoly Balchev — director, composer, writer, and a close companion of Vysotsky — has crafted a deeply personal portrayal of the Poet. Using rare archival materials, private footage, and firsthand memories, the film paints an intimate and fearless portrait of Vysotsky, free from official myth-making.
SGS Studio (Dubai) provides creative support for the project, continuing their exploration of the intersection between film, music, and immersive technology. Appearances include Marina Vlady, Lyudmila Abramova, Mikhail Shemyakin, and others close to Vysotsky’s life and times.
European cultural curator Anna Shtukkert, representing Apollo Film Production, ensures the project’s reach across international platforms.
SGS Studio’s portfolio also features the upcoming “Entropy: Requiem of Water” and the multimedia project “The History of the Tragic Century in the Rhymes of Vladimir Vysotsky.”
“Vysotsky. Unknown… A True Story” promises to be a major highlight of Cannes — a film that challenges, reveals, and moves its audience.
Following this premiere, Apollo Film Production and IFREE Studio will launch a new project: “Vysotsky. ‘They Will Not Erect a Monument to Me in the Park…'”
